Hi there,

I bought slingbox solo for 139.99 from amazon primarily to watch fox business at my serviced office.

at home you plug the video connections into it and then into your tv and then hook an internet cable into it.

then you download software onto the PC you want to use- log in with the device code and you now have a working tv on your PC.

also it duplicates your remote on screen so you can access all the functionality of your dvr as well whether like me if its a comcast one or even tivo.

picture quality is acceptable and overall setting up and using is simple. so if you have a need for this device would really recommend it.

Will it work with directv?
So basically you can use it anywhere you travel?
If you travel to NY and you live in LA does it get the channels in LA or NY or both?

Yes it works great with Directv or any satellite.
Watch your home tv (no matter what setup you have) from any highspeed internet connection.

as the poster above said

slingbox controls your home box, so you receive all your normal programming where-ever you are in the world-- assuming you can access high speed internet.

on mine it does that by having two IR transmitters that duplicate your remote.

also the good thing is its a one time cost no extra fees etc.

it would be nice if I oculd access the local channels in other states, then I wouldnt need the NFL package from directv

that is not a feature of this device.

you probably need some of the internet tv software which involves fees etc.

this is good at what it does and the cost is a one off.
